What You Will Need
   
Soap
Carving knife or exacto knife
Paring knife
Toothpick
Cutting board
Angel Wings Template

This 3 pack soap is a store-bought soap in Japan.
Dimensions : 7.5 cm(3") x 5.5 cm(2-1/8") x 2.3 cm(1")
80 g (3oz) bar
You can use any commercial bar soaps,
but choose soft bar soaps.

               
How to choose a suitable soap

 

(Optional)
Small pieces of aluminum wire
Round nose pliers, Wire cutter,
Craft glue
Sewing thread or fishing line
Pieces of ribbon

How to carve

1. Slowly cut the soap in half.
(first, lightly cut around the soap with an exacto knife,
 then cut the soap with a paring knife in half bit by bit)




2.Use a half of the soap.
Thinly cut off the top of it to create a flat surface.



3.Cut out the templates.
Trace the shape of the wing onto the soap with a toothpick.

4. Lightly cut along the outline with an exacto knife,then
 roughly cut the wing shape out of the soap with a paring
 knife. Cut off the excess soap with an exacto knife.


5.Trim the edge of the wing.  


6.Carve these two feathers as shown in the picture.

7.Mark small 4 dots on the soap with a toothpick, then
carve tiny half circles between the dots to create small
feathers.
 




8.Carve two rows of small feathers as shown.

9.Thinly cut off the soap where you will carve the next row
of the feathers,then mark small six lines on the soap
with a toothpick.



10. Carve six feathers.



11.Carve these pink lines for two feathers.


12.Thinly cut off the soap where you will carve the next row
of the feathers,then mark five lines on the soap
with a toothpick.

13.Carve two long lines as shown.


14.Then carve three long lines as shown.


15.Carve four lines as shown.

16.Trim the edge of the back side.


17. Cut off the excess soap to create tips of the feathers.

18.Cut six curved lines (in pink)


19. Lightly cut feather patterns using the tip of the knife.
 


20.Repeat these steps for the other wing. Done.

<How to hang the soap wings>

1.Bend a 2.5cm(1") piece of wire into a zigzag shape.
 

2. Make a small hole in the wing with a toothpick, apply
craft glue to the end of the wire, then put it into the hole.
Then apply craft glue to the tip of the wire,and make small
hole in another wing.
 
Put the tip of the wire into another wing.
 

3.Tie a piece of sewing thread into a loop.
  And cut a slit in each wing.


4.Hang the wings with the loop of thread.
 Tape the thread at the back of the wings.

<How to hang the soap wing in a different way.>

1.Bend a 3 cm(1-1/4") piece of aluminum wire into a hook
 shape.


2. Make a small hole in the wing with a toothpick, apply
craft glue to the end of the wire hook, then put it into
the hole. Tie a bow.


<How to decorate with glitter>
What you will need :
Glitter (for nail art), water , paint brush,

1.Apply some water to the wing with a paint brush.
 

2. Sprinkle the glitter over the wing. Done!
